Renaissance and baroque wind instruments, old percussion instruments

(born in 1971 in Bielsko-Biała) – an oboist by training and multi-instrumentalist by passion and proffessional expierience, co-founder (1994) and artistic director of the early music ensemble FLORIPARI Wawel Musicians since 1995. Aleksander holds a masters degree from the Academy of Music in Krakow in oboe performance ( class of prof. J. Kotyczka – 1995). He trained in England (DISS Dartington’93, ’94, ’95 scholarship holder), where he had the opportunity to participate in master classes with Paul Goodwin and Anthony Rooley. In 1995 he also received a grant from The David Reichenberg Trust from London (intended for the purchase of historical instruments). Originator and co-founder of the Polish Baroque Orchestra (1997). In 1998, thanks to a scholarship from an institution affiliated with the Royal Conservatory in Amsterdam, he took part in a masterclass with prof. Alfredo Bernardini.

Since 2006, he’s been leading his ensemble in working on the musical sources – manuscripts and early publications of the Polish Brothers’ Kancjonal (Songbook) from 1625 and music performed by the 17th cent. Rakow Capella. This resulted in the CD album “Muzykalia Rakowskie. He who has ears, let him hear. “

He has performed in many European and non-European countries; also in front of the crowned heads (Queen of Sweden, Prince of Monaco, King of Malaysia). In 2016, he was commissioned by the Dominican Friars of Krakow to lead Floripari in recording a CD to accompany a songbook of the famous 13th century Cantigas de Santa Maria Alfons X El Sabio translated into modern Polish. The album was one of the endeavors commemorating the 800th anniversary of the Dominican Order’s call to existence.

Since 2012, Aleksander works as a music instructor, propagating the Gordon Ttechnique (music for babies and children according to the technique of Prof. E. E. Gordon) – teaching classes and leading special family oriented concerts all over Poland.

Co-founder of Boży Młyn (bozymlyn.pl), a local integration initiative for the neighborhood community at the parish of St. Jan Kanty in Bronowice – Krakow. He has been honoured by the Catholic Church with a special statuette of the Spark of Mercy “Youth – project of life” awarded in 2017, particularly for his work with the youth.
