Joanna Trafas

Joanna Trafas, soprano, (www.joannatrafas.pl) graduated with distinction from the Krakow Academy of Music in 2008 (Master of Music – Dept. of Vocal and Dramatic Arts) and holds a Masters degree in Musicology from the Jagiellonian University (2006). Her musicological interests and flexible vocal technique allow her to perform a very broad repertoire representing many styles and genres spanning eight centuries.
A prize winner of competitions in Poland and the US, she is a recipient of the City of Krakow Creative Scholarship Award (2007).She made her professional stage debut as a student, playing the lead in “My Fair Lady” (Capitol Musical Theatre, Wrocław, 2005) and participated in student opera productions at the Krakow Opera. She is now a guest artist at the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic – European Centre for the Arts in Białystok, Gliwice Music Theatre, and performs with the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in chamber concerts organized by the Krakow Philharmonic. She is a speaker for the Philharmonic’s Education Department. She participated in various music festivals and master classes in Poland, The Netherlands, Switzerland and France, as well as the Young Talents Program at Warsaw Grand Theatre – the National Opera. She appears performs in duos with pianist Emilia Bernacka, organist Cyprian Jagiełło, harpist Malwina Lipiec, and harpsichordist Justyna Dolot (as erminea). She records film and theatre music by composers A. Brzeziński, A. Konarski and M. Chyrzyński. She made her first appearance as guest singer with FLORIPARI Early Music Ensemble in 2003.
